Welcome to
The Daily Concern for the Critically ill EMBRACE the Future
Conference
Athens, Greece, 25-27 September 2026
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
This year’s congress of the Hellenic Society of Chemotherapy (HSC) — The Daily Concern for the Critically Ill: EMBRACE the Future — continues and broadens the path we set out on last year. As members of the Board of Directors, we had then posed the question of whether continuing medical education (CME) can be confined to thematic lectures alone, and we answered in the negative. In a world that is changing dynamically, the clinical stance of the modern physician is shaped not by attendance alone, but through participation in research. This year, we are called to deepen that commitment and to bring forward its first fruits.
Since its founding in 2006, the Hellenic Sepsis Study Group (HSSG) of the HSC has defined the road of CME as knowledge that becomes one’s own through research. With its members contributing to more than 130 scientific publications, the HSSG has proven that younger colleagues with an interest in Infections and Antimicrobial Therapy can truly internalize scientific knowledge and transform their scientific stance. Demonstrably, the HSSG has succeeded in changing the international approach to severe infections.
Last year, the Board undertook to extend this successful model to all the Working Groups of the HSC, inaugurating their international scientific activities. This year’s congress is dedicated to carrying that work forward: to consolidating and broadening the activities of the Working Groups, and to deepening the collaboration of the Hellenic Infectious Diseases Community, supported by both the Community of Greek Intensivists and that of Greek Emergency Physicians. Our shared goal remains the same — to open a window of hope for the best possible outcomes for our patients, and to offer tangible support to the scientific journey of young Greek scientists, so that the knowledge produced in Greece continues to be heard internationally.
We warmly invite you to join us at the Acropolis Museum in Athens, 24–27 September 2026, as together we embrace the future of caring for the critically ill.
